About Imogen
For over 25 years I have worked with people and their problems and I am an Accredited Member of The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. It might appear that working with dogs is a huge departure, but I have always lived with dogs, horses and other animals, and I know first hand how important, challenging, rewarding and harrowing these relationships can be. I am especially aware of how problems with dogs can impact upon other areas, and vice versa, and how the loss of a much loved pet can be devastating to us.
I started to train and find out more about dogs whilst bringing up two pups and accommodating our adult rescued terrier. They presented challenges which I was not comfortable were being fully addressed by obedience classes. I have also become aware of the power of correct feeding for the dog, and physical tensions and injuries and the influence these can have on temperament and behaviour. My dogs have also taught me a great deal about how dogs talk to each other, made sense of by the amazing work of Turid Rugaas.
I offer my experience and continuing study and interest in the subject of getting the best out of our dogs in ways that recognise and answer their needs and engender cooperation, NOT force compliance. I also welcome anyone finding difficulty after losing a much loved pet. I hold a Diploma in Canine Psychology (distinction), and a Diploma in Dog Training (distinction).
I recognise that my working life has been focussed upon helping people find their most comfortable and rewarding place in their world. Now I am pleased to say I can help to do that for dogs and their humans too.
